The denomination 500 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in large characters along the lower rim, with the date 2023 and the fineness mark Ag 999 also present in the field. |

Cameroon has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since independence in 1960, though the vast majority of modern issues — including this one — are produced entirely outside the country, typically by European mints working under licensing arrangements with the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale. The coins hold legal tender status nominally, but none are intended for circulation.
The selective gilding technique applied here requires a secondary electroplating or foil-transfer process after striking.
