| Obverse description | Within a square flan, the national legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs along the upper field, with the denomination 500 FRANCS CFA and the date 2017 prominently displayed. The fineness designation Ag 999 appears within the design, confirming the fine silver composition. All inscriptions are rendered in Latin characters against a plain field, framed by a raised square border. |

| Reverse description | The reverse of this square silver coin is divided into two distinct vertical panels. The left and larger panel features a full-color reproduction of the Madonna della Tenerezza, a devotional work attributed to Andrea Mantegna (c. 1491), depicting the Virgin Mary seated and tenderly embracing the Christ Child, both figures draped in flowing golden robes against a blue and dark architectural background. The right panel, set against a polished black field, displays a finely sculpted high-relief sprig bearing two large roses in bloom with accompanying leaves and a bud, rendered in brilliant uncirculated silver. The contrasting techniques of color printing and sculptural relief create a striking dual composition within the squared flan. |
