Obverse description At center, the stylized monogram of the French Republic is flanked by two symmetrical laurel branches in the field. The legend 'CHARLE MAGNE' is inscribed across the upper field, while the denomination '70 ECUS' appears in the lower portion. The dates '·742 814·' flanking the exergue area denote Charlemagne's birth and death years.
