Chad's CFA franc is issued under the authority of the Bank of Central African States, but the novelty coin program that produced this piece has nothing to do with regional monetary policy — it exists entirely for the collector export market, a revenue stream several BEAC member states have quietly exploited for decades. The "bottle cap" format references Crown Cork & Seal's 1892 patent, the corrugated-edge bottle closure that made carbonated beverage distribution commercially viable at scale.
