The legend MAUSOLÉE D'HALICARNASSE arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by small star ornaments, while MERVEILLES DU MONDE DE L'ANTIQUITÉ curves along the lower margin, with the date 2008 absent from the reverse legend as it appears integrated within the lettering field. |

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — was commissioned by Artemisia II of Caria as a tomb for her husband and brother Mausolos, completed around 350 BC. The structure gave the English language the word "mausoleum." Ivory Coast has no historical connection to either the site or its Hellenistic patrons; this is a licensing issue struck purely for the numismatic collector market, produced under authorization for export rather than domestic circulation.
