The Central African CFA franc is legally pegged to the euro at a fixed rate guaranteed by the French Treasury — an arrangement dating to 1945 that has survived decolonization, the dissolution of the franc zone, and the introduction of the euro itself. Germany has no institutional connection to this currency bloc, making its appearance here purely commemorative, part of BEAC's long-running series licensing foreign themes to generate collector revenue rather than circulating money.
