Benin's commemorative program is run through the Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique de l'Ouest and largely contracted to European private mints — this piece almost certainly produced in Poland or the Czech Republic, as is typical of the collector-market issues bearing the BCEAO imprimatur. The "Fireworks of Victory" theme references Allied victory commemorations, though Benin itself — as the French colonial territory of Dahomey — had no independent role in World War II, its soldiers having served under the French Expeditionary Forces.
Struck for the collector market exclusively. No meaningful circulation history exists.
