A richly detailed arrangement of tropical agricultural plants — including cocoa pods, coffee branches with berries, and broad foliage — fills the lower central field, symbolising the natural resources of the Central African Republic. The date 1985, flanked by small decorative ornaments, appears in the exergue at the base of the design. |

Essai pieces issued by the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale were produced in extremely limited quantities — typically fewer than a few hundred strikes — as trial submissions for approval before authorizing full production runs. KM#E6 is one of several 1985 essais from this issuer, distributed primarily to collectors and monetary authorities rather than ever approaching circulation. The BEAC itself was established in 1972 to replace the earlier Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique Équatoriale et du Cameroun, consolidating monetary control across six central African states sharing the CFA franc zone.
