Additional information

The "Egyptian Pyramids" issue belongs to a wave of themed silver commemoratives struck for West African CFA franc states in the late 2000s — coins with no domestic circulation purpose, produced almost entirely for the European collector market. Ivory Coast, like several of its neighbors, licensed its name and monetary authority to foreign minting operations, principally in Europe, to generate modest revenue from numismatic sales.

KM#55 was struck at the Berne mint in Switzerland.
