Additional information

Cameroon has issued coins under its own name since independence in 1960, but its monetary policy has never been fully autonomous — the CFA franc is administered by the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale and pegged to the euro, with French Treasury backing. Collector issues like this one are licensed through private minting programs and bear no relation to circulating coinage; they are produced for the numismatic market and never enter the Cameroonian money supply.

Rhodium plating on silver became increasingly common in the 2010s as a finishing technique for wildlife-themed collector coins, primarily to prevent toning and sharpen surface contrast.
