| Reverse description | The left half of the field depicts a detailed rendering of the Saturn V rocket on its launch pad alongside the Kennedy Space Center launch tower, with stylized exhaust clouds billowing at the base. The right half features a circular inset design depicting an eagle with outstretched wings, evoking the Apollo 11 mission insignia, inscribed 'APOLLO 11' below and dated '20 JUILLET 1969' above within the inset. The commemorative legend '30e ANNIVERSAIRE 1er DEBARQUEMENT DANS LA LUNE' arcs along the upper periphery of the coin within a beaded border. |

Togo's authorisation to issue commemorative coinage in the late 1990s came through its membership in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, which technically controls the CFA franc — meaning Bceao had no meaningful role in commissioning pieces like this one. These were essentially licensing arrangements between the Togolese government and European private mints producing collector issues for the international market, not coins that ever saw Lomé.
The Apollo 11 mission launched July 16, 1969, atop a Saturn V from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A.
