Additional information

Togo's authorisation to issue commemorative coinage in the late 1990s came through its membership in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, which technically controls the CFA franc — meaning Bceao had no meaningful role in commissioning pieces like this one. These were essentially licensing arrangements between the Togolese government and European private mints producing collector issues for the international market, not coins that ever saw Lomé.

The Apollo 11 mission launched July 16, 1969, atop a Saturn V from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A.
