| 正面描述 | The obverse depicts a dynamic basketball game scene commemorating the 1972 Munich Olympics men's basketball final, with multiple players rendered in high relief — two leaping defenders with outstretched arms challenge a shooter driving toward the basket, while additional players are shown in the background. The left half of the field presents a polished, detailed court scene, while the right half features the textured surface pattern of a basketball, creating a bold split-field design. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON · 500 · FRANCS CFA · 2025 runs along the upper right periphery in Latin characters. A small engraver's mark appears in the lower left field. |

The 1972 Olympic basketball final in Munich remains one of the most disputed games in sports history. The United States had won every Olympic gold in the event since 1936, but a chaotic sequence in the final three seconds — involving a contested clock reset ordered by FIBA secretary R. William Jones — gave the Soviet Union two additional attempts to win. They converted on the third. The American team voted unanimously to refuse their silver medals, which remain unclaimed in a Swiss vault to this day.
