| Additional information |
The Bank of Central African States issues collector coinage on behalf of six member nations — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — none of which operate their own central banks. The "500 Francs" face value is nominal; these pieces are struck purely for the numismatic export market and would never circulate in the CFA franc zone, where 500 francs buys a soft drink.
Despite the "rose gold" marketing, this is silver with gold plating — the .999 fine silver substrate is standard for the format. KM#315 places it within a broader BEAC zodiac series produced in this period.
