| 表面の説明 | At center, a finely engraved representation of an early motion picture camera mounted on a tripod occupies the field, evoking the centenary of cinema. To the left of the camera, the large monogram 'RF' (République Française) appears in bold relief, with the denomination '500 FRANCS' and date '1995' inscribed below. The republican motto 'LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE' is distributed around the upper and left periphery in a curved legend. The design, by Joaquin Jimenez, blends Art Deco-inspired lettering with a celebratory commemorative aesthetic. |

Issued as part of Monnaie de Paris's "Grands Hommes" series, this large-module piece was struck the year before Hitchcock's centenary and timed to a broader French cultural rehabilitation of Hollywood directors that the Cahiers du Cinéma critics had championed since the 1950s. France had long claimed Hitchcock as an intellectual auteur before Anglo-American critics caught up — the coin reflects that proprietary affection.
At 155.52 grams of .999 gold in a 65mm format, these were produced in extremely limited numbers and sold primarily through subscription. The Fr.667a designation distinguishes it from the smaller module struck concurrently under the same KM parent series.
