Additional information

The Bank of Central African States issues collector coinage on behalf of six member nations — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — under a monetary union whose common currency, the CFA franc, has been pegged to the euro since 1999 and to the French franc before that. The "Adam and Eve" series belongs to a wave of thematic numismatic issues BEAC began producing for the international collector market, largely unrelated to domestic monetary circulation.

The amber insert is a resin casting, not geological amber.
