Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a detailed architectural rendering of the Stockholm City Hall (Stockholms stadshus), depicted in three-quarter perspective with its distinctive tall tower topped by a finial figure prominently rising at center-right. The long colonnade wing of the building extends to the left, and the structure is shown reflecting over water in the foreground. The inscription 'STOCKHOLM' arcs along the upper legend, while 'HÔTEL DE VILLE' appears in three lines to the left of the tower and the date '1997' is placed to the right. The engraving is finely executed in the intaglio proof style, with delicate architectural detailing throughout the field.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of the Monnaie de Paris's short-lived bimetallic commemorative program of the late 1990s, this platinum striking was produced alongside a gold counterpart in anticipation of the euro transition — the franc face value purely nominal, the euro denomination a calculated hedge toward the currency that would replace it within five years. The Hôtel de Ville series drew on Paris's municipal architecture at a moment when the city's administration was keenly interested in projecting institutional continuity through the changeover.

The .999 platinum specification placed this well outside anything intended for circulation.
