The BCEAO's long-running 500 Franc series is notable less for its design than for its administrative record: the signature combinations across this issue's print run document the ministerial and gubernatorial changes across eight member states over more than a decade. Alassane Ouattara — who signed the 1991, 1992, and 1993 dates as BCEAO Governor — left that post to become Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire in 1990, making his appearance on these notes an overlap with active executive political office.

Charles Konan Banny held the governorship through the longest unbroken run here, from 1994 to 2002, a tenure that would later end with his own appointment as Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire in 2005.
