Beschrijving voorzijde The denomination numeral '500' dominates the centre of the field in large stylised open numerals, through which a sword is diagonally intertwined, its hilt to the left and its ribbon-adorned tip emerging to the right, forming a dynamic commemorative device. The legend MAGYAR NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG (Hungarian People's Republic) is inscribed in two lines across the upper field in bold serif lettering. Below the central device, the word FORINT appears in large capitals, with the mint mark BP., the date 1986, and the engraver's initials CSR arranged along the lower exergual area.

Beschrijving keerzijde A detailed perspective panoramic view of the fortified castle of Buda as it appeared during the period of Ottoman occupation fills the central and lower fields, rendered in fine relief with architectural and topographical precision evoking late seventeenth-century cartographic imagery. The radiant Hungarian royal shield, bearing the traditional Árpád stripes and the apostolic cross, is prominently displayed above the cityscape in the upper field. The commemorative legend BVDAVÁR VISSZAVÉTELE and the historically significant date 1686 are inscribed in the field, referencing the recapture of Buda Castle from Ottoman forces by the Holy League.
