| Obverse description | Central design features a finely detailed equestrian statue of King Matthias Corvinus in full armour, mounted on a caparisoned horse facing right, set upon a stepped pedestal. The Latin inscription MATHIAS REX and the death date †1490 appear in the field to the upper right of the effigy. The legend MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 FORINT is displayed in bold relief to the lower left of the equestrian group. The mint mark BP., the issue year 1990, and the engraver's signature LEBÓ F. appear in the lower exergual area. |
