Obverse description Central vignette shows a traditional Arab dhow under full sail on the harbour of Aden, with the dramatic rocky escarpment of Crater and the town's waterfront buildings rendered in fine intaglio engraving. Bilingual issuer title — 'SOUTH ARABIC CURRENCY AUTHORITY' in English and Arabic — runs across the top, flanked by the denomination '500' at upper corners in both numerals and Arabic script. Two signature facsimiles appear at lower right, identified respectively as Secretary and الرئيس (Chairman), with the serial number printed twice in black.
