The Banks of the Seine were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991, covering a stretch from the Pont de Sully to the Pont d'Iéna that encompasses Notre-Dame, the Louvre, and the Musée d'Orsay. This issue belongs to the Monnaie de Paris' long-running UNESCO World Heritage series, which began in 2005 and has produced kilogram-weight silver pieces for select sites of particular French cultural significance.
