| 裏面の説明 | The reverse depicts a stylized cartographic representation of Paris and its arrondissements, rendered as a mosaic of small faceted pyramidal forms that evoke both the urban topography and the geometric modernity of the city. The design creates a textured, three-dimensional effect across the map's surface. The denomination '500 EURO', the series title 'TRÉSORS DE PARIS', and the date '2017' are inscribed within the composition. |

The Statue de la Liberté de Grenelle is a reduced replica of the New York monument, gifted to Paris by the American community residing in France in 1889 — the centennial of the Revolution — and installed on the Île aux Cygnes facing west toward its larger counterpart across the Atlantic. This coin belongs to Monnaie de Paris's recurring program of large-format gold issues commemorating Parisian landmarks, struck in five-ounce format at the Paris mint's modern Pessac facility.
The Grenelle figure was briefly turned to face east during the 1937 World's Fair, then rotated back. That small civic argument is now entirely forgotten.
