| Obverse description | Violet and purple intaglio-printed note on the base Mozambique 500 Escudos issue, overprinted in black letterpress with 'PAGAVEL EM TIMOR / PROVINCIA PORTUGUESA' across the upper centre, partially obscuring the original territorial inscription. The right half carries an intaglio portrait vignette of Caldas Xavier in military uniform, flanked by guilloche underprint panels, with the Portuguese coat of arms above centre and the denomination 'QUINHENTOS ESCUDOS' in bold intaglio lettering across the middle. The date 'LISBOA 22 DE MARCO DE 1967' and two manuscript signatures appear below the central vignette. |
