Reverse description The Armenian letter Թ (Tʿ, the ninth letter of the Armenian alphabet) is depicted in large stylized form at the centre of the field, rendered in an ornate illuminated manuscript style with intricate interlace decoration on its left stroke. The remaining letters of the Armenian alphabet encircle the central motif in a continuous legend around the periphery of the coin. A small floral or asterisk ornament separates the beginning and end of the alphabetic legend. The overall design references the medieval Armenian manuscript tradition of letter illumination.
