Additional information

Part of the Central Bank of Armenia's 38-coin series dedicated to the Armenian alphabet, each piece assigned to a single letter. The alphabet itself was created by Mesrop Mashtots around 405 AD, primarily to translate religious scripture — the first text rendered in the new script was the Book of Proverbs. Թ (pronounced roughly as an aspirated "t") sits toward the middle of the classical ordering, which has remained essentially unchanged for over 1,600 years.
