(Translation: Republic of Armenia 500 Dram)
Reverse description The featured letter Յ (Yiwn) of the Armenian alphabet is rendered in large, stylised relief at the centre of the field, with decorative filigree ornamentation incorporated into the lower portion of the letterform. The complete Armenian alphabet, comprising 38 letters, encircles the central motif as a continuous border legend running along the inner periphery of the coin, separated by a small floral ornament. The design celebrates the Armenian script created by Mesrop Mashtots in the 5th century AD. The overall composition presents the letter in an elegant typographic style against a polished field.
