| Reverse description | A large, finely engraved central vignette presents a panoramic view of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, rendered in detailed intaglio against a lightly clouded sky and framed by trees in the foreground. Ornately decorated columns with scrolled Corinthian capitals stand at each side of the composition, surmounted by multicolour guilloche numeral panels reading '500' in the upper corners and solid denomination numerals at the lower corners. The bank title ΕΘΝΙΚΗ ΤΡΑΠΕΖΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ appears across the top, with the inscription ΕΚΔΟΣΙΣ ΕΝΑΤΗ along the lower border panel. |
