| Opschrift voorzijde | SINGAPURA சிங்கப்பூர் 新加坡 1986 SINGAPORE (Translation: Singapore) |
| Beschrijving keerzijde | A finely detailed tiger rendered in high relief strides in profile facing right across the polished field, commemorating the Chinese Lunar Year of the Tiger (丙寅). The denomination 500 DOLLARS arcs prominently along the upper field in bold raised lettering, with the Chinese cyclical year characters 丙寅 inscribed centrally above the tiger. The legend HALF OUNCE FINE GOLD appears along the lower rim within a beaded inner border, confirming the coin's gold content. The entire design is framed by a continuous ring of raised beads. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Singapore's Lunar New Year gold series, launched in 1974, was among the first state-sponsored bullion programs in Southeast Asia to treat the twelve-year zodiac cycle as a complete collecting proposition rather than an ad hoc commemorative exercise. The 1986 Tiger falls in the second full rotation of the series, by which point secondary market premiums over melt had already established themselves firmly — early issues from the first cycle were already trading at multiples of face.
The .916 fineness follows the 22-karat standard long associated with British sovereign coinage, a deliberate choice reflecting Singapore's Commonwealth minting heritage.
