Reverse description A full-length portrait of a goat is rendered in high relief at the center of the deeply mirrored field, shown standing in profile facing right. The denomination '500 DOLLARS' arcs prominently along the upper portion of the field in bold Latin lettering. The Chinese cyclical year characters '辛未', denoting the Year of the Goat in the sexagenary cycle, appear above the goat's back. The inscription 'HALF OUNCE FINE GOLD' is placed in the lower exergue. The design is framed by a finely executed inner beaded border.
