Obverse description The obverse features the sixth and final effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile with a jewelled crown, pearl drop earring, and pearl necklace, all rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished gold field. The portrait is enclosed within a recessed inner circle, with the platinum-plated outer border carrying the legend ELIZABETH II and the regnal dates 1952–2022 arching above, and AUSTRALIA with the denomination 500 DOLLARS below. The engraver's initials JC appear at the truncation of the effigy. The contrasting platinum finish on the border and the pure gold field create a striking two-tone visual effect characteristic of this issue.
