Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem, drop earrings, and a pearl necklace, after the third portrait design by Raphael David Maklouf. The legend ELIZABETH II runs along the left periphery, with BELIZE and the date 1994 arcing along the right periphery. The engraver's initials RDM appear on the truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field.

The Royal Cipher E II R appears at the centre below the portraits. The upper legend reads ROYAL VISIT BELIZE FEBRUARY 1994, and the denomination 500 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The composition is executed in high relief with a polished proof finish.
