Concealed within the bold black-and-red ovoid forms and flowing lines of the orca's body is the hidden figure of a female form draped beneath the creature's cloak, a reference to Haida mythological tradition. The design employs the characteristic Haida artistic vocabulary of primary and secondary formlines, U-forms, and split-U elements in high relief. The legend CANADA 500 DOLLARS 2016 is inscribed around the lower periphery of the reverse field. |
