The Forevermark Black Label program, owned by De Beers, certifies stones through a proprietary inscription process — each diamond receives a unique identification number laser-inscribed on the girdle, invisible to the naked eye. Embedding one into a legal-tender gold coin required the RCM to engineer a bezel setting directly into the die-struck field, a process that demanded tolerances tight enough to secure the stone without compromising the coin's structural integrity at 167 grams of .9999 fine gold.
The 0.20 carat round brilliant is graded under Forevermark's own quality threshold, which De Beers claims excludes more than 99% of the world's diamonds from eligibility.
