| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed bust of Saint Ludmila of Bohemia (c. 860–921), shown three-quarter facing, wearing a jewelled crown and a draped veil, her hands clasped in prayer before her. A large Latin cross rises to the upper left of her figure, symbolising her Christian martyrdom. The inscription '100 DUKÁT' curves along the left rim and 'SVATÉ LUDMILY' along the lower right, with the dates '860 · 921' inscribed in the upper right field denoting the saint's birth and death years. The engraver's monogram 'JB' for Jaroslav Bejvl appears discreetly in the mid-right field. The composition is executed in high relief with exceptional sculptural quality befitting the coin's extraordinary weight and fineness. |

This piece recreates a coin that was itself already a recreation. The original 100 ducat of St. Ludmila was struck in Prague in 1629 under Ferdinand II, minted in a single massive gold planchet as a presentation piece — not currency in any practical sense, but a vehicle for political and dynastic display at a moment when the Habsburg consolidation of Bohemia after White Mountain was still raw. Niue's 2015 restrikes of historic European multiples occupy a well-documented niche in the modern bullion-collector market, with .9999 fine gold at a weight deliberately matched to the original's approximate mass.
