| Obverse description | At the centre of the field, a highly detailed three-dimensional cave lion skull is depicted in high relief against a textured rocky ground surface, the jaws open to reveal prominent canine teeth. Surrounding the central motif, a spiralling decorative band frames the composition, with six circular medallions distributed around the lower portion of the field, each enclosing a stylised animal pawprint rendered in relief. Stylised grass and vegetation elements occupy the lower field. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA and the date 2026 arc above the central skull, while the denomination and fineness inscription 500 DOLLARS 1 oz Au 999.9 appears below. The Germania Mint mark is visible to the right of the central motif. |
