Pick 32 replaced the earlier 500 Dirham issue (Pick 29) and is distinguished primarily by its narrower embedded security thread — a subtle but catalogically significant change that separates it from otherwise nearly identical notes in the series. The UAE's 500 Dirham denomination has always sat at the practical ceiling of everyday high-value transactions in the Emirates, and the Central Bank has been methodical about incremental security upgrades rather than full redesigns.
The dual dating — 1427 AH alongside 2008 CE — reflects standard Gulf state practice of maintaining Islamic calendar primacy on official documents.
