The Darfur Sultanate issues of the late 2000s are fantasy pieces — the Sultanate itself ceased to exist in 1916 when Sultan Ali Dinar was killed by British-led Egyptian forces, ending nearly four centuries of intermittent rule over the region. No successor authority has held recognized issuing power since. These coins circulated nowhere and were produced for the collector market, their X# reference confirming their status outside any mainstream national catalog.
