Additional information

Yugoslavia secured the rights to host the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo over competing bids from Sapporo and Falun, making it the first Winter Games held in a socialist country. The commemorative program that followed was extensive, with multiple denominations issued across 1982–1984 covering individual sports — biathlon among them.

The series was struck at the Kremnica Mint in Czechoslovakia, not domestically.
