Yugoslavia hosted the 1981 World Table Tennis Championships in Novi Sad — the first time the tournament had been held in the country. The commemorative program timed to that event was modest, and this 500 Dinara piece represents one of the smaller silver outputs from the National Bank's commemorative series of that period, which had been running nearly continuously since the mid-1970s across a range of sporting and political themes.
