| 背面描述 | A dynamic, high-relief figure of a female long jumper is depicted in mid-flight, leaning forward with arms and legs fully extended in an athletic pose, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The curved legend XXVI ZIMSKE OLIMPIJSKE arcs along the upper periphery from left to right, while ATLANTA 1996 curves along the lower periphery. The denomination D500 is inscribed in the lower central field beneath the athlete's figure. Three five-pointed stars punctuate the legend at intervals along the left side of the rim. |

Bosnia and Herzegovina issued this coin in 1996 while still in the immediate aftermath of the Siege of Sarajevo, which had ended only months earlier with the Dayton Agreement of November 1995. The country was, in the most literal sense, rebuilding its institutions when this piece was struck. Issuing Olympic commemoratives was, for the fledgling state, as much an assertion of recognized nationhood as it was a numismatic exercise.
The 1996 Atlanta Games were the first Olympics in which Bosnia and Herzegovina competed as an independent nation.
