| Obverse description | The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina centrally positioned in the field: a shield divided diagonally by a bend, the upper dexter quarter bearing fleurs-de-lis and the lower sinister quarter also adorned with fleurs-de-lis, supported by foliate mantling on either side. Below the shield, a detailed depiction of the Old Bridge (Stari Most) of Mostar spans a river, flanked by architectural elements of the historic town on both sides. The circular legend 'REPUBLIKA BOSNA I HERCEGOVINA' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the date '1993' appears at the base of the coin between two ornamental stops. |

| Additional information |
Bosnia and Herzegovina issued this coin in 1993 while the country was actively under siege — Sarajevo was in the middle of the longest blockade of a capital city in modern warfare. The 1984 Winter Olympics had been held in Sarajevo less than a decade earlier, and the issuing of commemorative Olympic coinage amid active conflict was as much a political statement of sovereign continuity as it was a numismatic exercise.
The infrastructure used for those 1984 games — including the Trebević bobsled track and ski facilities on Jahorina — was being shelled at the time of striking.
