The "Informbiro" designation refers to the Cominform — the Soviet-led information bureau from which Yugoslavia was expelled in June 1948 after Tito's break with Stalin. This 500 Dinara note was prepared in 1950 but never released, and the suppression appears to have been political rather than technical: the Cominform crisis had made any issued currency carrying certain imagery or associations diplomatically sensitive as Yugoslavia charted its independent course.
Unissued ZIN-printed material from this period rarely survived the destruction orders intact.
