| 裏面の説明 | The Imperial Iranian coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting the Lion and Sun device: a lion passant to the right with a radiant rising sun emerging from its back, holding a sword in its raised right forepaw. The device is surmounted by a Qajar crown above the lion's back. The entire central motif is encircled by a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied at the base, with the denomination inscription in Arabic script displayed on a cartouche in the lower field. |

Mozaffar od-Din Shah signed Iran's first constitution in December 1906, just months before his death — making the final years of his reign among the most consequential in Qajar history. This coin was struck during that charged period, when the Constitutional Revolution was already building pressure on the court. The shah's chronic illness and repeated European spa treatments, financed partly through Russian and British loans that mortgaged Iranian customs revenues, left the treasury perpetually strained.
KM#977 represents one of the smaller silver denominations of the Mozaffari coinage reform series.
