A crown and the inscription 70th Anniv. appear beneath the central portrait. The legend UNIFIED NATIONS arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 2023-06-02, issuer name THE GAMBIA, and the fineness designation 1/2 OZ .9999 FINEST GOLD are inscribed in the lower field. |

The Gambia has operated as a recognized issuing authority for foreign coin programs since the 1970s, and its name appears on collector issues bearing no practical relationship to domestic Gambian currency — the dalasi, in ordinary circulation, tops out well below any gold denomination. The 500 Dalasis face value here is purely nominal, a legal fiction that satisfies international minting conventions while the coin is clearly produced for the global bullion and collector market rather than West African commerce.
