| Obverse description | Printed in blue on a polychrome underprint by intaglio (calcography) and lithography, the obverse presents a central vignette with a bust portrait of Floriano Vieira Peixoto, President of the Republic from 1891 to 1894, set within an ornate guilloche frame. In the upper-left and lower-right corners, overprints in blue — applied by the Casa da Moeda (Brazilian Mint) — bear the new denomination inscription '500 CRUZEIROS' within a rosette device.
