| Description du revers | The inner disc features a dynamic composition depicting a woman in traditional Chorotega or Nicoyano folk dress, her wide skirt fanning outward in flowing relief, her hair worn in a long braid. To her left, an outline map of the Nicoya region of Costa Rica is rendered in low relief; to her right, a broad-canopied guanacaste tree rises prominently in the field. A decorative pre-Columbian motif appears on the right side of the outer ring. The arc legend '200 AÑOS DE LA ANEXIÓN DEL PARTIDO DE NICOYA 1824-2024' runs along the outer ring, with the inscription 'DE LA PATRIA POR NUESTRA VOLUNTAD' arching across the upper portion of the inner disc. |

The 2024 issue commemorates the bicentennial of the Annexation of the Partido de Nicoya, the 1824 decision by which the district of Nicoya — then part of the newly independent province of Guatemala — voted to join Costa Rica rather than Nicaragua. The outcome was never militarily imposed; it was a formal cabildo vote, making it one of the few territorial acquisitions in Central American history achieved entirely through civic process.
