Reverse description Central oval intaglio vignette of the crowned Lion of Judah passant, bearing a cross-topped staff and banner, set against a mountainous landscape, enclosed within elaborate scrollwork and foliate ornamental borders. The numeral "500" appears in large stylized Ethiopic characters at left and right margins, with a dense guilloche underprint filling the field in olive-green tones. An Amharic inscription in a rectangular panel at the foot of the design states the denomination.
