Reverse description A vibrant full-color depiction of a Vanda tricolor orchid spray dominates the centre and right of the field, rendered in polychrome enamel with characteristic yellow, red-brown spotted petals and vivid magenta lips, set against lush green foliage. A budding bloom is visible at the lower centre, adding botanical accuracy to the composition. To the left, a finely detailed silver-relief effigy of a seated Buddha statue occupies the background field, rendered in uncolored relief against a mirror-polished ground. The species name VANDA TRICOLOR is inscribed within a rectangular cartouche in the upper left of the field.

Additional information

The Vanda tricolor is a Southeast Asian orchid native primarily to Java and Bali, with no geographic or cultural connection to Rwanda whatsoever. Rwanda has issued a long-running series of fine silver coins under foreign licensing arrangements — typically coordinated through the Coin Invest Trust (CIT) in Liechtenstein — that use the country's issuing authority purely as a legal vehicle while targeting the European collector market. This piece is one of those.

KM#91 belongs to a botanical sub-series within that broader program. Mintages are generally low and tightly controlled by the distributor.
