| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Rwanda centrally placed in the field, depicting a knotted rope encircling a shield bearing a traditional hut and tribal motifs, flanked by coffee and pyrethrum branches, with a sun rising above. The coat of arms is inscribed with the national motto UBUMWE-UMURIMO-GUKUNDA IGIHUGU along its lower arc and REPUBLIKA Y'U RWANDA on a banner at the top. The outer legend along the upper rim reads BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA, while the lower rim bears the denomination AMAFARANGA 500 MAGANA ATANU.
